“What is it you actually do?”

Ostara’s 24 hour response and support service uses state of the art alarm equipment to create a safe home environment and enable vulnerable people to live safely and independently at home for as long as possible.

We offer a menu of equipment to choose from, ranging from simple alarm buttons to flood detectors, pill dispensers and door opening sensors, all connected to our 24 hour monitoring and response centre based in South Gosforth. Each alarm is selected and programmed according to the customer’s individual needs and circumstances and will alert our 24 hour response team if the customer needs assistance.

What if….?

If an alarm is activated, Ostara’s 24 hour response centre is alerted immediately, putting the wheels in motion to get customers the help they need, whether that is sending the emergency services if necessary or dispatching an Ostara 24 hour response officer to check the customer is ok.

How are we unique?

We are the only provider in Newcastle upon Tyne that offers alarm equipment with an emergency response service. Because we are based in Newcastle and only provide our services to people who live in the city we are never far away from our customers.

Who are our customers?

Anyone who lives in Newcastle upon Tyne (and some surrounding areas) can become an Ostara customer. Many Ostara customers and their families need peace of mind that help is at hand in case ‘something’ happens. Many customers live alone and feel vulnerable, often because they have had a fall or are worried about falling or are frail and getting older or have health problems such as dementia, epilepsy or other chronic conditions.

Is funding available?

Until recently, many of our customers received Supporting People funding to cover the cost of their service but this funding stream is no longer available. Many of our customers pay for their service themselves but often a family member such as a son or daughter is happy to cover the cost too because of the peace of mind they get from knowing their loved one is connected to us 24 hours a day.  You can read some of the compliments we receive from our customers and their loved ones here.
