The Ostara pill dispenser
Many of our customers rely on the Ostara pill dispenser to help them manage their medication. This piece of equipment is filled with a customer’s tablets and programmed to sound an alarm when it is time for the customer to take their next dose.
If the pills are not taken from the dispenser within a set period of time, the pill dispenser will alert Ostara’s 24 hour response centre. We’ll then call the customer to check they’re ok and find out if there’s a reason why they haven’t taken their medication. If there is no answer, or if the customer replies to ask for help, we’ll send help.
What does it look like?
The pill dispenser is a secure round box with 28 compartments that are filled with a customer’s medication to help them keep on top of what they need to take at different times of day.
How does it work?
It makes the correct dosage available at the correct time each day while keeping the others locked out of site.
Who is it suitable for?
It is ideal for people who have lots of medication to take and are worried they might forget a dose or accidentally take too much.
It’s also very popular with customers who have dementia and learning disabilities.
Anything else?
Many of our customers’ family members or carers fill their pill dispensers on a regular basis but this can also be done by selected pharmacies.
